Process of a Commissioned portrait painting
Jennifer will meet with the clients for a discussion of the portrait painting from the photos or a photo selected by the client. We will establish a dialogue to determine the range of painting you desire. If you are out of state and we cannot meet; a photo or photos can be forwarded to the address on this site to the attention of Jennifer McIntosh, and a dialogue will be conducted by phone or e-mail.
Each commission painting is different. The price of a portrait is based on the following: the size of the painting; the number of people in the painting; how much of each person is to be shown in the painting; the detailed element of clothing; jewelry, props and the background element. Jennifer will work with her clients to accommodate their desired vision and budget.
At the meeting, once the size and details are set, a contract will be signed by you and Jennifer, the artist, and a 50% deposit is required for starting your portrait painting. Please note that framing costs, shipping fees and any applicable taxes are additional and are not included in the base portrait cost.
It’s the practice of Jennifer to finish the portrait in the agreed time period. During the painting process, the client is invited to view the different stages of the portrait development. Upon delivery of the finished painting to the client, the balance is due at approval and acceptance.
It brings tears to many of my clients’ eyes when they see the finish product of their portrait paintings.
